You can inspect the monster-o-matic if you wish, but it only releases jellies to fight, which give tiny amounts of experience at this stage and aren't related to any side quest or achievement. Enter the hole (you did collect the rope earlier, right?) In this new area, push the handle that looks a bit like the sword in the stone. It will slide across the floor, revealing a hole in the floor. Go back west and push the statue at the top of the room from the right-hand side. Also, for the first 10 levels, put ALL your points into GRIT as mentioned in the Hints & Tips section you have read! DO NOT WORRY if you are further in front or behind either of these in comparison to me unless I specifically advise grinding a particular area. NOTE: Due to the nature of the game and it's random encounters, your levelling and side quest mileage WILL vary. Go east again, collect all the stuff knocking around, and fight a few encounters if needed until you level up for the first time! Return to the east, east again (this is where you should be getting to the bronze level on the Dead or Alive side quest. Then go north, north again, then collect everything and head west between the two braziers ( SECRET 2/39). Now walk directly south between the two statues to check your first secret off the list! ( SECRET 1/39). Exit west, collect everything including the rope and the 25 Golz hidden in the monument. Head south again and receive a more detailed tutorial on encounters. Keep returning here to ensure your progress matches mine in the walkthrough! A side quest will only appear here when it is in progress, meaning any completed or undiscovered ones will not be shown. NOTE: You can track your stats and side quests, among other things, in your journal. Kill the skeleton, and being your first side quest, “Dead or Alive”. You'll now be introduced to the game's combat, which is standard JRPG fare.

Leave the room via the south exit (Not the same one you entered by, obviously). Take the hammer, then open your menu and equip the shovel on Johnny and the hammer on Francis. I won't point it out in the walkthrough specifically unless it's tied to your 100% progression or an achievement, but be sure to collect the piles of Golz (the game's currency) and open cabinets, chests and crates knocking around the entire game world. Explore the room, open the crates and investigate everything you want collecting stuff. Cross Magic Missile off your list! ( POWER 1/180).
#Short menu walkthrough how to#
You'll also receive your very first power here, and be taught how to equip it. Enter the back door of the house, and walk into the middle of the room for a short tutorial on tactics and powers. You'll see a shovel in a recess: This is your first weapon, so take it.

Walk back to the right and exit right by the front wall of the house. Go back to where you started, and head towards the front door of Benjamin's house, but before you get there head left along the top of the garden and open the crate partially hidden behind the tree for a little surprise. On the next screen, you'll find a crate containing your first healing item: a panino. Right, on with actual gameplay!Įxit to the bottom right of the street, at street level. Now back out of that menu and SAVE THE GAME. It doesn't affect anything else, including secrets and achievements, so trust me and do yourself this one favour. All this does is lower enemy hit points, and to be honest it feels really well balanced. Done that? Good! On we go towards your second achievement, but first something very important: PAUSE THE GAME AND CHANGE THE DIFFICULTY TO 'CHILLAX'. You did read that, right? It contains some useful information on characters, roles, stats, and miscellaneous achievements, so stop skipping ahead and go and read it. There now follows a short conversation where we're introduced to the main characters, as described in the Hints & Tips section.
